September often feels like the start of something. Conker season, a change in the air. A freshness after the heat of summer. Of course, it’s the beginning of the new school year, but it can also be a time for a fresh start in other areas of life too. We may have been away over the summer, we may have had kids at home, our routines may have been different for any number of reasons. September, a change in the weather, a return to routine and habit. There is perhaps a sense of security in routine; we know what we’re doing, what is expected of us. Life works. Maybe the change in seasons is a good time to take stock, to think about how we are, really. Spending some time reflecting on me is important. How am I? What do I feel? What feels difficult? Are there particular anxieties or difficulties? Does it go deeper? Am I depressed? Do I need to address this in therapy? Maybe I could feel better than I currently do. Making space in our heads can be so helpful. In counselling, we can take time to think about our mental health. Understanding what is going on and what the causes of our issues are is crucial in overcoming our anxieties. If you would like to try counselling, I’m offering the first session better than half price for new clients booking in September. That’s an incredible £30 instead of the usual £65! Just mention the word ‘September’ at the time of booking.
